Sophia Tong
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Sophia Tong is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TATCS, where she provides strategic leadership and sets the long-term direction for the company. Since founding TATCS in 2004, she has guided the organization through sustained, uninterrupted growth, transforming it into a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3–appraised company for both Services and Development, and achieving ISO 9001 and 20000-1 certifications. Under her leadership, TATCS has expanded its footprint across a diverse portfolio of federal and commercial clients.
With more than 15 years of hands-on experience in software engineering and project management, Ms. Tong brings a well-balanced blend of technical expertise and business acumen. She has led numerous enterprise-level application development initiatives, while also building the internal frameworks and partnerships that support scalable, high-performing teams.
Ms. Tong holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and also holds ITIL certification.
Her leadership and contributions have been widely recognized through multiple honors, including the American Business Awards Executive of the Year, Washington Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader Award, the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce Growth Master Award, the SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year for Northern Virginia, and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Business Advocate of the Year.
