Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA)

The primary objective of T&T’s work is to provide Information Technology expertise to implement and support DoDEA’s Enterprise Infrastructure Initiatives, including: email centralization, internet access provider centralization, school campus virtualization, local area network hardware infrastructure lifecycle standardization, and remote desktop services implementation. We provide expertise in System Administration, Senior System Administration, Senior Network Administration, and Technical Management Services.

Project Management

T&T provides contract level management throughout the contract execution in accordance with Government requirements. We ensure that the tasks of all Enterprise Infrastructure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the requirements of all assigned Government task leads.  Our project manager (PM) and human resources department ensure appropriate levels of expertise for employees and delivery of quality services.  The PM serves as a single point of contact to the Government Contracting Officer Representative to coordinate all services. The PM is responsible for delivery of technical subject matter expertise when and where needed, all around the world; on-site surveys and reporting for lifecycle projects; planning, scheduling and coordination of all PWS task with the Government task leads and team members; providing ongoing reporting of project status, milestones, budget, and risk; and documenting configuration and functional capabilities of all projects.

E-Mail Centralization

As part of our responsibilities to modernize the services and infrastructure for DoDEA, T&T is initially standardizing all local areas to Exchange 2010 in order for all areas to collapse mailboxes back to regional offices with optimized servers & storage needed for high availability. Concurrently we are preparing the main organizational datacenter’s resources for Exchange 2013 to support the entire DoDEA enterprise. Once all local sites are upgraded to Exchange 2010, we will be able to support the Government in collapsing the entire organization to a single Exchange 2013 environment. Additionally this contract requires us to prepare a DoDEA Continuity of Operations (COOP) site at Fort Bragg, NC. Detailed requirements include developing, configuring and testing the COOP site, coordinating dependencies, centralizing the SMTP Gateway to the primary datacenter, configuring and installing SPAM firewalls, and centralizing regional SPAM firewalls to a high availability environment.

Internet Access Provider (IAP) Centralization, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Router Refresh, Network Core Refresh, and LAN Hardware Standardization

To build in an infrastructure to support the remaining tasks of this contract, T&T is providing the following engineering support to DoDEA: coordinating 10GbE circuit installations for regional operations centers on multiple continents; consulting with telecommunication carriers to centralize existing MPLS connections in key locations; aligning school campuses in remote locations with appropriate carriers and connections to maximize connectivity effectiveness; creating orders for carrier, placing orders, monitoring circuit installs and edge configurations; coordinating with the Government and carrier to refresh MPLS routers worldwide; standardizing DoDEA Community of Interest Network (COIN) routing protocol across all areas to BGP; coordinating with the Government and carrier to refresh network core equipment; coordinating and implementing security firewall refreshes worldwide; and coordinating circuit modifications, changes and cut-overs. Additionally, our team is assessing and documenting current LANs for site locations identified by the Government and assisting task leads with network switch hardware refresh and LAN standardization optimization.

School Campus Virtualization Infrastructure

T&T is designing Community Architecture and develop criteria for Small & Large school communities as defined by MPLS COIN based on customer edgerRouters approved by the DoDEA CIO. We are providing each school community with a single server & data storage cluster stack optimized for community service efficiency. Additionally we are in the process of planning to virtualize all school communities to Hyper-V which includes configuring and delivering the following services: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Radius/NPS, and user storage. Our sub-tasks to manage the community virtualization lifecycle and implementation includes following services: install and configure server hardware for all school communities; coordinate and assist local staff with service migration; conduct final installation testing to verify and validate the proper configuration, function and monitoring of virtualization services; and document and optimize performance.

Software Application Centralization

Tasked with virtualizing the infrastructure, our system administrators are installing Remote Desktop Services 2012R2 and optimizing the performance and centralization of applications. Because the organization has over 2,000 applications built on myriad software platforms over the course of multiple decades, a main task we are performing is the review of existing software applications for suitability to virtualize. Our team is also working side by side with the Government to build the RDS architecture, and will provide the analysis of optimal delivery methods at both the school and regional support offices. The applications are a mix of educational and business software programs that will be hosted centrally and distributed as needed.
